How Long Does Sealcoating Take to Dry?
The drying times and weather a sealer manufacturer publishes for driveway sealcoat.
SealMaster's instructions for its E-Z Stir driveway sealer call for 2 to 4 hours of drying between coats and 24 hours before cars park on it. Its sealcoating FAQ says to give the final coat 24 hours before traffic, with temperatures of 50 degrees and rising and no rain expected for 24 hours.
Between coats
SealMaster, a pavement sealer manufacturer, says in its E-Z Stir application instructions to allow a minimum of 2 to 4 hours of drying time before applying the second coat. Its FAQ recommends two coats of sealer on a driveway or lot.
Before driving on it
SealMaster's instructions say to allow 24 hours before parking cars or allowing traffic to resume, and its FAQ says to give the sealcoat 24 hours after the final coat to cure before opening it back up to traffic.
Weather that affects drying
SealMaster says temperatures must be above 50 degrees Fahrenheit both during application and for at least 24 hours after, and that sealer should not be applied when rain is imminent or forecast within 24 hours.
